TICKETED Pre-Conference: You must be pre-registered for this session to attend.
Learning is a social and emotional process. A recent Aspen Institute report,
A Nation at Hope, clearly describes how strong social and emotional supports boost academics, engagement, attendance and school climate overall. Good educators already know this. In fact, your district and schools are probably doing a lot of practices consistent with social and emotional learning, whether or not you call it “SEL.” This ACSA Leadership Summit pre-session will help you plan a more intentional and consistent approach to SEL, starting with the good work you and your staff are already doing. With real-world examples and strategic conversations, you’ll leave this session with concrete next steps to move your district or school’s existing SEL work toward a coherent, systemic approach.
Outcomes:- Reflect on your district/school’s current efforts to promote SEL
- Learn about real-world SEL systems that are working
- Develop next steps to move your work forward
Ideal Audience:- District and school site leaders
