This workshop will present information regarding the Peter P. v. Compton Unified School District case pending in federal court. Additionally, the workshop will discuss what trauma may look like in the school setting, how schools can — and are — address trauma, and what needs to be done to identify students at risk. The workshop will also discuss the difference between trauma and disability (if there really is one) under Section 504. Finally, the workshop will discuss how trauma may impact staff, as well as students, and what can be done to address staff impacts.
