This presentation is developed by Jennifer Nix, Associate General Counsel, of the public law firm School and College Legal Services of California. This presentation will provide participants with an overview of Individualized Transition Plans (ITPs). It will cover ITPs and their requirements. ITPs are an often overlooked component of the IEP and are often ripe for legal challenge. IEP teams often are appropriately meeting transition needs but failing to document them. This presentation will cover all aspects of the ITP, including student participation, transition assessments, services, ITP goals, defensible ITPs, incorporating mental health needs, and postsecondary goals. The workshop will be delivered through a PowerPoint lecture with accompanying materials.
