Presentation will highlight the strategic integration of PBIS, Mental Health and Restorative Practices (RP) within a MTSS framework. Emphasis for supporting Foster, McKinney–Vento, LGBTQ, and Chronically Absent students will be provided. Santa Ana Unified School District is a large, urban, K-12 school district with students facing issues around poverty, trauma, violence and immigration. SAUSD’s multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework is designed to address the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of all students. Research indicates that the current generation of students served in K-12 have limited coping skills and increased levels of anxiety and depression. Districts must respond with a myriad of interventions necessary to meet the unique and ever-changing needs of the Gen Z student population. Effective interventions include restorative circles, foster and homeless outreach, crisis response, a mental health network of support, identity support plans, suicide prevention campaigns, and home school linkages.
